My initial idea is to create a musical playground for children.
“Music does bring people together. It allows us to experience the same emotions. People everywhere are the same in heart and spirit. No matter what language we speak, what colour we are, the form of our politics or the expression of our love and our faith, music proves: We are the same.”
This is a quote by John Denver, which explains no matter who you are, music will always bring people together. It can share positive vibes all round which helps create a stronger community in that aspect.
Creating a music playground I believe would be great for young children and UWE students to co operate together and the students can definitely help these children learn new skills, this would also give them more of a meaning to excel in their dreams and to hopefully encourage them to aspire to higher education.
I believe music sessions would be a good idea to do for students to help the children learn how to make music, this would then improve their social skills even more to express themselves musically to their friends and family.
This article is an interesting read, Jill Suttie talks about how music brings us together. Melanie Demore, a singer from the USA, led the audience in a group sing as part of the day’s activities. Jill Suttie then went on to say “it was clear something magical happened: We all felt closer and more connected because of that experience of singing together.”
This shows that people can come together when music is involved, it also connects people more in a special way to feel closer to one another.
I have been looking in to what the best locations would be for the music playground, for The Vench and for UWE. To see where would be best for the children to be safe while playing at the University, an area far away from cars and maybe close to the exit so it isn’t hard to find.
The Vench’s location of the music playground would be next to their basketball/football court, I have an image of said location on my blog. This area is nice and spacious and definitely gives the children enough room to play and be creative, it also gives plenty of space for lots of instruments for the children to use.
UWE’s location for their music playground would be located in the field near CFS (Centre for Sport) which is also next to the nursery, again an image of this is located on my blog. I believe this is an ideal space as it is very spacious and since it is near the nursery, it’s very safe for the children to roam around and play.
